Boston Globe -- Another national newspaper with a great tradition.
C-Span -- One of the true advantages of life with cable. If you think democracy is boring, try C-Span's coverage of "Question Time" in the British House of Commons. It's shown on Sundays at 8 pm (and rerun at 11 pm). 30 minutes per week and you'll understand why the world owes Great Britain a debt that will never be repayed. Scream and shout nasty diatribes at your opponent, then shake hands and go run the country for the peoples' benefit.
CBS News -- Much improved net site. Hard to understand how it can be so good considering Dan Rather is still on the CBS payroll.

CNN -- Very in-depth reporting -- with searchable archives for students.
CNN Transcripts -- Transcripts of CNN news shows.
Dawn -- leading English language newspaper from Pakistan.
Detroit News -- Motor City news.
The Economist -- Business oriented; based in United Kingdom.
Fox News -- Currently the best news site.
The Gate -- The San Francisco/Bay Area home page for the S.F. Chronicle and S.F. Examiner.
Google News -- Interesting concept -- supposedly no human intervention. Computer algorithms pick out the news and include several news sources so you can read different views.

Herald-Sun -- Australian daily.
The Hindu -- online version of India's national newspaper.
Independent News -- World news from Great Britain.
Kyodo -- Current news from Japan.
