National & International News Sources

ABC News -- Previously the best site for breaking national news but generally useless after a remake.

Associated Press -- Top news stories linked through Newsday.

International News
National News
Business News

Atlanta Constitution

BBC -- World news page of the British Broadcasting Corporation. Read this and you begin to understand why we have a special relationship with the UK.

Baltimore Sun

Boston Globe -- Another national newspaper with a great tradition.

Boston Herald

C-Span -- One of the true advantages of life with cable. If you think democracy is boring, try C-Span's coverage of "Question Time" in the British House of Commons. It's shown on Sundays at 8 pm (and rerun at 11 pm). 30 minutes per week and you'll understand why the world owes Great Britain a debt that will never be repayed. Scream and shout nasty diatribes at your opponent, then shake hands and go run the country for the peoples' benefit.

CBS News -- Much improved net site. Hard to understand how it can be so good considering Dan Rather is still on the CBS payroll.

Chicago Sun-Times -- The second city's best.

Chicago Tribune

Christian Science Monitor

CNN -- Very in-depth reporting -- with searchable archives for students.

CNN Transcripts -- Transcripts of CNN news shows.

Dallas Morning News

Dawn -- leading English language newspaper from Pakistan.

Denver Post

Detroit News -- Motor City news.

The Economist -- Business oriented; based in United Kingdom.

Financial Times

Fox News -- Currently the best news site.

The Gate -- The San Francisco/Bay Area home page for the S.F. Chronicle and S.F. Examiner.

Google News -- Interesting concept -- supposedly no human intervention. Computer algorithms pick out the news and include several news sources so you can read different views.

Guardian -- United Kingdom.

Herald-Sun -- Australian daily.

The Hindu -- online version of India's national newspaper.

Houston Chronicle

Independent News -- World news from Great Britain.

International Herald Tribune

Jerusalem Post

Kyodo -- Current news from Japan.

London Observer -- Left and lively!

London Times -- Why do you read this great paper with an accent? Requires free registration.

Miami Herald -- Special internet edition.

Minneapolis St. Paul Star Tribune

MSNBC -- Microsoft and NBC combine for a news network.

NPR -- National Public Radio News

News.com -- Tech news channel brought to the web by c|net.

Newsday

Newsweek -- weekly newsmagazine now on the web.

New York Times -- All the news that's fit to print as long as it fits their left-wing bias. You can't miss their editorial page -- it's the front page! Requires free registration.

Philadelphia Enquirer

Pioneer Planet -- St. Paul, Minnesota.

Pravda -- The Russians just don't like us. Read Pravda (English version) and you may understand why.

Reuters -- Old-time international news service. Connected through to Yahoo.

RollCall On-Line -- What's happening in Congress.

Seattle Times

Slate -- National newsmagazine provided by Microsoft. Edited by Michael Kinsley.

Springfield Journal-Register -- Springfield, Illinois newspaper.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch -- It's got great reporting and left-wing editorials -- it's definitely not the good ol' Globe-Democrat.

TechCentral -- “Where Free Markets Meet Technology”

Tacoma News Tribune

Time -- Largest circulation of national weekly newsmagazines.

U.S. News & World Report -- Weekly newsmagazine.

Union Leader -- New Hampshire newspaper. Important every 4 years.

USA Today -- A quick look at the national news. Good features.

The Village Voice -- New York. Hooks to Reuters for national and international news.

Vote.com -- Everything you want to know about the politics of the day.

The Washington Post -- An inside-the-beltway look at how the world's greatest democracy works. Probably shouldn't be read right before bedtime.

Washington Times -- the Capital's other newspaper. Not nearly as well done as the Post.

World Net Daily

Xinhua -- Official (mainland) China News agency.
